THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN – Trailer Review (Teaser Trailer)

Animated children’s movies have become a standard for current films.  This year, we’ve already had five, and there are many more on the horizon.  Among the animated films to still release is The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.  The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson, and co-written by Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The WorldShaun of the Dead).  The film follows a young man, Tintin (voiced by Jamie Bell) who discovers an old ship with his friends, and sets off on an adventure.  The film is based on a book series, called The Adventures of Tintin, and the film combines three of the twenty-four books in the series: The Crab with the Golden ClawsThe Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham’s Treasure.

This past week, there was a short teaser trailer released for the film, and many people seemed to fall in love with it.  I didn’t necessarily fall in love with it, but the trailer did get me somewhat interested.  The CGI motion-capture animation does look gorgeous from the minute-plus of footage we see, and I especially loved the glimpse we get of the ship sailing through the desert sand as the sand changes into an ocean.  Other than that, nothing necessarily grabbed me from the trailer, but I am intrigued, as it is the first time Spielberg has directed an animated film, and the fact that Edgar Wright is one of the three writers.

Share your thoughts in the comments!  The film opens in 3D in select theaters, and in 2D, on December 23.
