TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – Trailer Review (Trailer 3)

I’ll go out on a limb here and say that I enjoy the first Transformers movie.  It served its purpose well and it’s an overall pretty entertaining popcorn movie.  However, the first film’s entertainment value doesn’t make up for its abysmal sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which had an overly convoluted storyline and multiple incomprehensible action scenes.  As a result, it received a large amount of disappointment from fanboys.  Director Michael Bay has admitted, however, that the second Transformers film was bad, and he’s promising to make up for it with this third installment.  That alone irritates me, because the fact that he knew he was making a bad film all along proves that Revenge of the Fallen was solely a cash grab.  Therefore, I’ve still got a large amount of hesitation to fully believe Bay about this new film.

About a month ago, Paramount Pictures released the full theatrical trailer for the latest installment in the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  And I’ll be the first to admit that I was impressed.  Still not completely sold, but impressed.  The trailer was well-cut, it had the money shots that’ll get moviegoers in their seats, and it had one great ending sequence involving an office building collapsing.

Last week, Paramount released a third trailer, which is basically the theatrical trailer with some new footage spliced throughout.  Overall, it gave me the same general feeling.  It looks like it could be a fun time at the movies, similar to the first movie; or it could be another disappointment.  If it were to be bad, though, I’ve got a feeling it wouldn’t be as bad as the second film.  After all, Bay promised us no racist robots this time around.

Share your thoughts in the comments!  The film opens in 3D in select theaters, and in 2D, on June 29.

Here’s the thing. At the end of the day, Michael Bay is a enormous hollywood director. He was given a budget of 200 million dollars to make transformers 2 which yes i agree was a shockingly bad movie, but do you really think his intentions were to make a money grabber with that kind of money also with Spielberg on the producing line. By the way, I will end up watching the movie because first of all the ads look amazing and second, if he admits the second film was, wouldn’t he be more motivated and understanding of a movie that if he doesn’t get right, it may end his career… He has already spent a little over 400 million on the third movie which is ludicrous, but i’m sure that movie will be well watched and edited before they send it in for viewing.
