WRATH OF THE TITANS – Movie Review

March 24, 2012 1 comment

If I were to make a list of unnecessary movies coming out in 2012, Wrath of the Titans would be towards the top.  I, along with many, immensely hated the first film from 2010, Clash of the Titans.  And while this new installment is marginally better than the first one, it’s ultimately more of the same. THE RAID: REDEMPTION – Movie Review

As of late, many fights in action films from Hollywood really lack strong choreography.  Every gun seems to have an unlimited supply of bullets, and the main character never seems to get hurt.  However, leave it to the new Indonesian action film, The Raid: Redemption, to deliver on the fights, as it has some of the best action scenes I’ve ever seen. THE HUNGER GAMES – Movie Review

The hype leading up to the release of The Hunger Games was one of the most massive and widely known in some time.  I haven’t fully read the books, however I knew that there was more to this film than the typical teen novel adaptation (looking at you, Twilight).  So, going in with this mindset, I ended up enjoying the film quite a bit, a lot more than I was expecting. As many moviegoers know, the month of January is undoubtedly the weakest when it comes to new releases.  Whether it be a horror film or a romantic comedy, the films are all typically forgotten in three months time.  However, when a director like Steven Soderbergh releases a film in January, my interest is peaked, and it’s safe to say his latest, Haywire, is a very rare exception to the January rule. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE GHOST PROTOCOL – Movie Review

December 17, 2011 3 comments

Successful action blockbusters are few and far between, due often times to lackluster stories, hollow characters, and subpar acting.  However, every once in a while, Hollywood will put out an action blockbuster that completely fires on all cylinders.  Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol is one of those films. SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS – Movie Review

December 16, 2011 1 comment

I was a big fan of the first Sherlock Holmes.  It was entertaining, slick, and featured great performances, namely Robert Downey Jr. as the title role.  So with that mindset, I had a decent amount of interest for the new installment, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t branch out enough from its predecessor to become a sufficient sequel.
